You Won’t Have Mitt Romney to Kick Around Any More

The difference between Obamacare and Romneycare, is that Romneycare works. It’s funded, it’s cheaper, it successfully collaborates business and public resources because Romney knew all about how to manage both. Mitt Romney is an adult. Mitt Romney is a total “Square,” yes, but America needed a grownup in the White House. Continue reading

The Trinity Exposed

The LDS belief in the “Godhead” and our understanding of it’s nature isn’t based on any of the historical Church creeds. How could it be? They don’t make any sense. They aren’t found in the canon. All they amount to is an agreement that the nature of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost is a mystery beyond the understanding of the human mind. God is incomprehensible and so unlike us, that as mere mortals that it doesn’t even bear pondering. Continue reading

Gladys Knight (McDowell…)

Gladys Knight’s troupe is everything the LDS missionary program isn’t, everything the LDS leadership doesn’t quite understand about the religion any more, and everything you’d expect when the best of African-American and Mormon worship traditions are merged. Continue reading

Troubling Doctrines Part 3: Blood Oaths And Soul Theft

Unfortunately Mormonism developed in Utah and in its history Utah Mormons have embellished the “protective” properties of the “garment” into actual physical protection from bullets, bombs, fire and sword. In actual fact, the “garment” is only officially billed as a spiritual protector inasmuch as it is a constant reminder that it is God who clothed and protected us from our own ignorance and nakedness after we fell. WTF? (What the Fudge?) Deseret News

The Deseret News has been the official organ of the LDS church since its foundation in 1850. (I know it’s strange and antiquated nomenclature. I know it sounds a bit naughty–but’s it is indeed the proper use of the word folks.) That’s barely three years after Brigham Young dragged his sick and tired guts over the pass, sat up and leaned from the back of the wagon and said “This is far enough.” (Yes, that’s what he actually said friends.) Continue reading

Mormon Wars Part 7: The Coming of Civilization

My Born-Again readers may be disappointed to find out that Brigham Young was not in the business of killing passing Christian settlers for vengeance or blood sport. That’s a very titillating fantasy for subsequent generations of foaming evangelicals to indulge while they sit around flattering themselves in Christian coffee houses perpetually waiting for the Rapture to come, and listening to Michael W Smith. Continue reading
